SEEAT Speaks

SEEAT Speaks came about after a discussion around oracy and how we might raise its profile across the trust. We want pupils to be confident to speak aloud, share their views and to listen to one another with compassion and empathy.

Led by Anne Slayford, one of our Practitioners of Excellence at The Deanes, and with exceptional teamwork across the trust, every year 5 and year 7 student has had the opportunity to develop these skills and push themselves out of their comfort zones. After workshopping their ideas in the classroom, several students were picked to speak in their school assemblies, a daunting but exhilarating experience.

Of these students, two have been selected as winners and they took part in the event in May 2024.
