Outstanding Ofsted for Westcliff High School for Girls

Staff and pupils at Westcliff High School for Girls are celebrating following their recent Ofsted inspection on 6 and 7 February 2023. The school has been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating in all categories.

 

 

 

Inspectors commented positively about what it is like to attend Westcliff High School for Girls. They said:

“Pupils’ exemplary behaviour and positive attitudes to learning reflect leaders’ high expectations. They show respect for each other and for staff.”

“New pupils settle in quickly. Pupils in Year 7 speak with pride and excitement about their school. Students who join in the sixth form rapidly develop a sense of belonging.”

“Pupils are very well prepared for life beyond the school.”

“The vast array of lunchtime clubs and extra-curricular activities has something for everyone...Pupils and sixth formers routinely make a significant contribution to school life acting as role models and leaders.”

 

Headteacher Emma Matthews said:

 “The Ofsted report reflects how we, as a team, provide exceptional opportunities for our students to develop their talents, express their individuality, and flourish into successful and exceptional young adults. To the staff, this outcome reflects the unwavering commitment, professionalism, and dedication of everyone within our school community, and to the students, this report exemplifies what highly motivated, aspirational ambassadors you are. We are all extremely proud.”

 

The school is part of the South East Essex Academy Trust. Chief Executive Andrew Cooper commented:

 “I’m delighted that Ofsted have recognised that Westcliff High School for Girls is an outstanding school. As the report says, we have reviewed, refreshed and redesigned the curriculum and staff continue to improve their practice through effective training opportunities. At WHSG there is no room for complacency.”
