SEEAT Speaks

SEEAT Speaks began as a way to raise the profile of oracy across our trust, aiming to empower pupils to speak confidently, express themselves clearly, and listen with empathy. Now in its second year, the event has grown from 18 to 27 speakers.

Led by Anne Slayford, Practitioner of Excellence at The Deanes, and supported by collaboration across SEEAT schools, Year 5 and Year 7 pupils took part in workshops to build their speaking and listening skills. Students presented in assemblies, with finalists going on to represent their schools at SEEAT Speaks.

This year’s finalist speeches covered a wide range of topics—from unicycling and rhinos to sexism in music, bullying, alopecia, and the power of books.
