Local Schools’ Trust Shortlisted for National Award for Second Year Running

South East Essex Academy Trust (SEEAT) have been shortlisted for the Multi-Academy Trust of the Year Award at the National Schools Awards 2023.

This award celebrates a Multi-Academy Trust that has successfully turned around their schools or has managed to grow whilst maintaining or increasing positive pupil outcomes, using innovation and imagination to improve their schools.

This is the second year running that the trust, based in Westcliff, has been shortlisted for a national award; last year they were shortlisted for the Leadership Team of the Year Award.

The National Schools Awards take place annually to recognise and reward excellence in the education sector with those shortlisted are invited to a ceremony taking place at the House of Lords at Westminster, on 7th December.

SEEAT is a charitable trust educating almost 4,000 young people across a family of seven schools in the local area which includes The Deanes School, Hadleigh Junior School, Holt Farm Junior School, Prince Avenue Academy & Nursery, The Westborough School, Westcliff High School for Girls, and Rochford Primary & Nursery School. An eighth school, Heycroft Primary, is soon to join the trust.

Chief Executive of SEEAT, Andrew Cooper said:

Our family of schools are proud to have been shortlisted for this award. We are not a large trust but we regularly ‘punch above our weight’ and we work collaboratively across our schools so that we can deliver the best education for our pupils. We have built 37 communities which allow hundreds of staff across the trust to share ideas, resources and expertise with each other and we actively engage with schools outside of our trust for the greater good of education. We are also proud to be a local trust based in the area we serve – all our schools are within easy travelling distance.

Just to be shortlisted for this award is a privilege and we look forward to meeting with colleagues in our sector at the ceremony in December”.
