WESTCLIFF HIGH SCHOOL FOR GIRLS WINS BEST YOUTH PRODUCTION

Westcliff High School for Girls, is proud to announce its success at the National Operatic and Dramatic Awards. Their musical production of ‘Sister Act the Musical’ picked up Best Youth Production at the awards ceremony last weekend, a prestigious national award.

NODA representative and regional counsellor Tessa Davies said of the show “WHSG is unique in my experience in that, apart from one musician and the creative team, everything else in the performance, is done by the students.  This includes all the technical support, stage management and crew in addition to the cast.”

She praised student Shirley for her role as Deloris Van Cartier as having “a superb ‘gospel’ voice, aptly suited to the character and her performance was very strong from the start” and Emery for “a lovely calming performance” in the role of Mother Superior.

Mr Cottee, the school show's director said, "Once again, I am exceptionally proud and grateful to all of the students, staff and wider community who make these moments possible for WHSG by giving up so much of their time and energy to perform, entertain and support what our young people love to do...and they do so incredibly well. Winning these awards are the cherries on top and we look forward to improving our quality of performing arts year on year".
