MP Visit Sparks Opportunity for SEEAT Pupil

We were delighted to welcome local MP Dame Rebecca Harris to two SEEAT secondary schools in September.

At Cornelius Vermuyden, Dame Rebecca toured the site with long-serving Canvey councillor Ray Howard to discuss the recent HMI monitoring report, which highlights the school’s rapid progress since joining SEEAT.

In the afternoon, she visited The Deanes, where Head of School Kelly Corp shared the success of their Open Evening and the school’s strong community engagement, especially in sport and physical activity.

A highlight of the day was Dame Rebecca’s meeting with Jack (Year 10), whose passion for politics led to a conversation about future pathways. Jack has now secured a work experience placement in Dame Rebecca’s Westminster office.

Dame Rebecca said: “It’s fantastic to see the rapid progress at Cornelius Vermuyden and the energy at The Deanes. I’m especially pleased to welcome Jack for work experience in Westminster—nurturing young people’s interest in public service is vital for our community’s future.”
